The Sedona Symphony invites audiences to experience the unexpected at its second concert of the 2025–2026 season, “Mozart and Marimba,” on Sunday, November 23, at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. The program spotlights the bittersweet chord progressions of the Marimba Concerto, by Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Kevin Puts. Written when he was just 25, the concerto is poignant in richness and deceptive simplicity. Performing the lyrical piece is Northern Arizona’s own renowned percussionist, Dr. Abby Fisher. “The marimba is a beautiful, fascinating instrument that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves,” says Maestro William C. White, Artistic Director of the Sedona Symphony. “In Kevin Puts’ concerto, we get to hear it in all its deeply resonant and utterly captivating glory in Abby's skilled hands.” Doors open at 1:30 pm, pre-concert talk at 2:00 pm, and performance at 3:00 pm.
